Spoke with Ike's pedi (well his nurse, but i typically like the nurses better than doctors anyway, lol) and we have a plan of action now. I have literally been crying all day because Ike has been crying all day. Ike has not slept for more than 45 minutes at a time all day (and all last night) and those times were VERY few and far between. As in today he has had 1 45 minute stint and 2 15 minute stints, that's it and the 2 15 minute stints were with me holding and rocking Ike, i would lay him down and he would wake up immediately and within 10 minutes be screaming again. Anyway the plan.
We are going half breastmilk, half formula for sensitive tummies that combined with Mylicon drops (gas drops) SHOULD help Ike out. I will do this until Ike is at least 6 weeks old (which scary- is only a week and a half!), then re-evaluate. Please pray for Ike that his tummy will stop hurting him, which will mean you won't have to pray for me because i won't feel like a failure if my son is happy.

Rhi, Stop that! You are SO not a failure. You are doing the best you can. You've never done this before, you have to learn as you go, it is hard! What do you think mothers who adopt their babies feed them? He's not going to know the difference! Carson was supplemented day one and Liv is still getting some breast milk . It so depends on you and your baby. You are sleep deprived, you are hormonal, don't be so hard on yourself! Call me if you need to, I'm here.
You can't fail at being a mom if you are doing everything you can to take care of your baby! I had those nights with Jaelyn. We tried regular formula and 2 weeks later had a night from HELL! Then we tried soy, didn't work either, then went to sensitive and it finally worked for her. It takes time. I don't know what this next one is going to do to surprise me lol! You learn real quick so don't worry! Plus he loves his mommy, he feels better with you and that has to count for something! Good luck and I hope you find something to work for him soon! =)
You are doing all the right things. Ask the professionals. I remember we had to give Tyler some medicine before every feeding and he is a healthy, bright, wonderful teenager now. Don't beat yourself up. Leave all the work to Jim. When Ike naps you nap. This to will pass.
Sending you all the best vibes for Ike! I'm hoping the half breastmilk/half formula solution works out for him. I can totally sympathize with the feeling like a failure issue (as you've seen on my blog), but hang in there. You aren't a failure, because you're doing everything you can to make your baby happy.
Best of luck!
