TXU = Devil

Oh my word!
I got home after grocery shopping yesterday to discover we had no power, not the end of the world, it should be on soon. I put away the groceries as quickly as i can (don't want that refrigerator open!) and scarf down my dinner (well 1/2 of it because it was too flippin hot in the house to continue eating). Then called TXU to see if any progress had been made as i am SURE that someone had reported the outage already. I was told at 7:30pm that the outage had indeed been reported, that Oncor was working on correcting the problem and the estimated time to expect restored power was 11pm. At first i was SOOO not happy, hello i will be 8 months pregnant tomorrow, i NEED A/C, but then i recalled that for the previous 2 outages we have had in our new home power was restored much quicker than the estimated time. So i went to Kohl's and Target (cause i know THEY have a/c- btw Jimmy was at the track last night and missed a lot of this), i returned home a little after 10pm fulling expecting that my garage door opener would work. No such luck.
I called TXU again after 20 minutes i finally reach a human who tells me that Oncor is trying to GET there to START working on the problem at 11pm. Oh my heck who do i have to kill to get cold water and a/c! Jimmy comes home shortly after and we decide to cool off with the shower/tub, Jimmy takes the tub and i waste gallons of cool water in the shower. It felt soooo goooooood. We go to bed hoping the electric will be restored soon and that our newly purchased groceries will not go bad.
Notice i said go to bed and not sleep. Jim slept just fine, but big fat preggo me? Nope, not a wink. Finally at 2am i call TXU again and yet again it takes several tries and 15-20 minutes to reach a human who proceeds to piss me off even more because NO ONE HAS COME OUT YET! They were "trying" to get there (maybe traffic was bad, ya know all those clubbers hogging that highway) to address the issue. I demanded a credit to which i was givent he run around and told that it wasn't their fault so they couldn't issue a credit. I of course couldn't sleep so i argued with several customer service reps until my phone died (cause i surely can't charge it!). Power was FINALLY restored at 5:16AM, i know this because i was still awake.
After being on the phone for 45 minutes this morning and speaking as cordially as possible to several supervisors i finally got a $50 credit on the account (keep in mind our electric bill last week was almost $500) and promptly called Reliant and switched service providers.

Good for you! Sorry about the no sleep part, but at least you won't have to deal with TXU anymore. We just switched to Reliant, they offer a lot of rebates to the installation companies who install attic insulation and seal ducts (all the stuff we just did). Just FYI. If you get all that stuff done, it will save you quite a bit on your electric bill.

That's quite the pricey bill! You must have been miserable! I die of heat in the middle of winter when I'm pregnant, so I can't imagine what that was like.

You should have cooled down in that nice pool that you have! Or at the very least made Jimmy stay up with you!
