2008 in Review (blogjacked from nbjenni)

1. What did you do in 2008 that you’d never done before?
Had a baby!
2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I kept the most important one! I promised to cut back so we could buy a house and we did! I am making a couple for 2009, but overall i think i am pretty happy with myself and will just try to change one thing a month for the better.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Well i may not have met them in real life, but i have become pretty close to a couple of my Nest friends (closer to them then most people in my real life actually) and all of THEM have given birth as well!
4. Did anyone close to you die?
My Uncle Tommy died the day before Thanksgiving and my Aunt Cathy about 2 weeks ago, it's not been a very festive Christmas season.
5. What countries did you visit?
None, well i did stay at my IL's and that could be considered a foreign country, lol. :)
6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
A happier home
7. What dates from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
January 26th- the day we found out we were pregnant
May 9th - the day we found out we would be having an Ike ILO Lily
October 4th- the day Ike blessed us with his presence as an outside baby
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Becoming a mommy
9. What was your biggest failure?
Breastfeeding
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I had major surgery, does that count?
11. What was the best thing you bought?
lol, my favorite thing is probably my Coach Diaper Bag (yes i am a shallow materialstic ho, but i am so happy with my bag and i am even happier that it was a crazy good deal)
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Ike's first plane ride made me giddy, he was SOOOO good. Jimmy was amazing the first 4 days of Ike's life
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Jimmy's current behavior makes me feel depressed
14. Where did most of your money go?
Have you not been paying attention? Ike is the blackhole of our house, he sucks all the money, time and energy (but i don't mind one single bit)
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Finding out we were pregnant, finding out it was a boy, seeing his first ultrasound
16. What song will always remind you of 2008?
Twilight soundtrack
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Because of Ike i am happier, everything else i am sadder
b) thinner or fatter? the same weight, but i feel tons bigger
c) richer or poorer? Is this a trick question? I am way beyond poorer, we are down to one income and have added expenses! Not to mention suprise hospital bills that we weren't planning on with a "natural" childbirth...ugh!

20. How did you spend Christmas?
My mom and Larry came here, we opened presents and grilled steaks and lobster and watched A Christmas Story (a MUST)

Ike has stolen my heart

Bones
23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
Hate is an awfully strong word, there is no one on Earth that i hate
24. What was the best book you read?
Sounds stupid and not the greatest literary pieces i've ever read, but Twilight Series captivated my attention the most
25. What was your greatest musical discovery?
That my voice isn't nearly as bad as Jimmy likes me to think
26. What did you want and get?
A baby
27. What did you want and not get?
A natural delivery, a magic pill that makes me skinny and pretty
28. What was your favorite film of this year?
Again call me an adolescent girl, but Twilight, Rob P is just plain hot
29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 27, i was 2 days past due with Ike and went to the MW with Jimmy and my sister to get induced (again) and (again) it didn't work. Went to the mall for lunch (5 Guys Burgers and Fries) and Best Buy where Jimmy bought us (himself) a video camera, then my sister flew back to Cali. Kind of a sucky birthday actually.
30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Keeping my job as planned (working from home)
31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
"Fat man in a little coat" about sums it up
32. What kept you sane?
i don't think anything worked, lol. Perhaps my Nestie friends

Rob P
34. What political issue stirred you the most?
Gee could it have been the Presidential Election?
35. Who did you miss?
My brother and sister and their families
36. Who was the best new person you met?
Ike!
37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008.
I guess i should try to sound reasonably intelligent, um, i learned that i don't need to be perfect (i really only learned this on the surface though, it hasn't sunken in enough for me to stop beating myself up about my flaws, lol)
