Independence Day

The 4th of July is my absolute favorite holiday (goes to show you, it's not all about material things for me, :p).  I have such wonderful memories from when i was a kid and i really hope to be able to create new, equally fun memories for ike.  When i was growing up, the 4th of July meant go to the beach all.day.long.  It meant sandwiches, snacks and juice with friends/family.  We didn't have a lot (or any) money growing up, so the 4th was one holiday that was made into a big deal and lived up to the expectations.  I love it.  Since i've been married, i've tried to rope Jimmy into my crazy land when it comes to holidays and i haven't had much success.  However, this year was super close :o)  The forecast for the day was TERRIBLE!  I seriously almost cried when i checked it out.  Thunderstorms predicted from 11am to 10pm, all the black little clouds on the weather channel pissed me off, lol.  However, we planned to have some friends come over for swimming and burgers and hopefully the rain will have cleared up in time for fireworks.  The day was gorgeous! <3  I was so stinkin happy. We had friends over, we had burgers, we had swimming and we had fireworks!  Not a rain cloud in sight.  Ike even took a nap and lasted through the last firework at o'dark thirty.  Happy Independence Day everyone and i am so blessed to be able to call this beautiful country my home and grateful to the men and women who protect and serve our country, making it the wonderful home that it is.

Glad things worked out weatherwise for everyone. We swam for a while but when the kids lips were turning blue we finally all got out. I thought it was freezing.
